萘及萘系衍生物是化工重要原料之一,萘及萘系产品通常可由煤焦油与石油裂解焦油提取,有工业萘、精萘和甲基萘之分。煤焦油萘系产品硫含量高,而石油萘系产品硫含量低,更适于生产精萘、精甲基萘等。在石油化工行业的原油裂解生产乙烯的过程中,伴随联产大量的乙烯裂解焦油,以往尚无先进的分离专有技术,裂解焦油除了部分作为生产碳黑之外,更多的则作为燃料油,致使宝贵的化工原料流失浪费。萘及萘系产品广泛应用于合成树脂、涂料、医药、农药、轻工、塑料、助剂等行业,可用于制取苯酐、β-萘酚、甲萘胺、H酸、丁腈橡胶、增塑剂、扩散剂、抗凝剂等产品,应当加以充分地利用,使其发挥更大的经济效益。

健康危害:具有刺激作用,高浓度致溶血性贫血及肝、肾损害。

急性中毒:吸入高浓度萘蒸气或粉尘时,出现眼及呼吸道刺激、角膜混浊、恶心、呕吐、食欲减退、腰痛、尿频、尿中出现蛋白及红白细胞。亦可发生视神经炎和视网膜炎。重者可发生中毒性脑病和肝损害。口服中毒主要引起溶血和肝、肾损害,甚至发生急性肾功能衰竭和肝坏死。
